Laboratory Accreditation
Overview
The IPIAB Laboratory Accreditation Program is established to provide independent, third-party assurance of the technical competence and quality of laboratories seeking to deliver services to the oil, gas, and petrochemical industry. Our objective is to promote confidence in laboratory results by verifying compliance with the international standard ISO/IEC 17025 and industry-specific technical requirements. In the petroleum sector, where operational decisions, safety performance, asset integrity, and environmental compliance rely heavily on accurate laboratory data, accreditation serves as a critical benchmark of reliability and competence. Oil and gas operators, EPC contractors, refineries, petrochemical complexes, and regulatory authorities increasingly require accredited laboratory services to ensure the validity, traceability, and integrity of testing and calibration results.
The IPIAB accreditation program is specifically structured to address the needs of laboratories supporting upstream, midstream, and downstream operations. This includes, but is not limited to
- _ Crude oil and petroleum product testing
- _ Drilling fluids and cement analysis
- _ Materials and corrosion testing
- _ Calibration and metrology services
- _ Environmental and emission monitoring
- _ Quality control testing for refining and petrochemical processes
By achieving IPIAB accreditation, laboratories demonstrate compliance with internationally recognized standards while strengthening their credibility within the energy sector. Accreditation supports consistent technical operations, enhances risk management, and provides a clear competitive advantage in securing contracts within the oil and gas industry.
IPIAB is committed to supporting laboratories in building sustainable quality systems that align with global best practices and the demanding requirements of the petroleum industry.
